Then add a few ice cubes and, if desired, other calorie-contributing ingredients and blend for an additional 30-45 seconds. - How much protein and carbohydrates are there per serve in Serious Mass?
Per single scoop of Serious Mass there is 25g of protein and 127g of carbohydrates.
- How many calories are there per scoop in Serious Mass?
There are 625 calories per scoop of Optimum Serious Mass. Two scoops would be 1250 calories.
- Is one scoop of Serious Mass enough?
One scoop may be enough for many Serious Mass users. This equates to a 168g serving size which is still allot of powder to mix and consume. In comparison a standard serve of Optimum Gold Standard protein is only 30g. For those though that are true hard-gainers they should strive to take the full 2 scoop sizes. Whether you take a single or double scoop of Serious Mass as a rule one should attempt to consume 672-1344g of powder daily.
- How do you use Serious Mass for best results?
For best results take Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass 2-5 times with water daily using the full serving size of 336g which is 2 scoops. Importantly it should be taken in excess of your regular diet which shall increase your calorie count. On workout days we recommend taking one serving 30 minutes post workout. Combining Serious Mass with a regular workout program and healthy diet shall greatly assist.
- Is Serious Mass suitable for women?
Yes it is. Women seeking to add size or strength can take Serious Mass. Bear in mind it does contain creatine and as such may have an anti-diuretic effect (you may hold some water). It is however suitable for women to take.
- Is Optimum Serious Mass Gluten Free?
No it is not gluten free. Until around 2021 Serious Mass contained glutamine peptides that were listed on the label as containing wheat. Since then the glutamine peptides have been removed from the formula. However the packaging still does NOT state Serious Mass to be gluten free. If Serious Mass were gluten free we would expect Optimum Nutrition to state this on the packaging as they do with their gold standard whey range.
- Does Serious Mass contain artificial flavours?
Yes it does. As stated on the label Serious Mass contains both natural and artificial flavours.
- Does Serious Mass contain creatine?
Yes. Optimum Serious Mass contains 3g of creatine monohydrate per 336g serving. As such a separate creatine supplement would not be needed whilst taking Serious Mass.
- What flavours are Optimum Serious Mass available in?
Serious Mass is available in 4 flavours. Banana, Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla. Chocolate flavour is the #1 seller in Australia making up around half of all Serious Mass sales.
- Can Serious Mass make me sleepy?
Yes it can. Being high in carbohydrates Serious Mass can make you a little sleepy in the same way a high carbohydrate meal may.

- Are there negative side effects from taking Serious Mass?
No negative side effects would be expected from taking Optimum Serious Mass. After many years of selling Serious Mass to the Australian consumer the only negative side effect we have heard of is stomach cramping or difficulty digesting Serious Mass. The cause in most people seems to be due to the large serving size which is in excess of 336g. This is a very large serving. However once users reduce this serving size to 50% or 25% digestive difficulties mostly dissipate.
- How fast does Serious Mass work?
Serious Mass begins working immediately by adding calories in the form of carbs, protein and fats to your diet. Consumed in addition to your regular diet many users shall notice a gain in size in as little as one week.
- Any advice on taking Serious Mass? I find it hard to stomach that much in one shake.
Although Serious Mass is recommended to be taken at its 2 scoop serve (1200 calories) I would highly recommend halving this. Since it gives 50g of protein per 1200 calories, half serve would still suffice as it would contain 25g of protein (your average amount in a post-workout shake). This allows the body to only have to digest 600 calories - however if done twice a day this still adds 1200 calories to your daily calorie intake.
- Will Serious Mass make me fat?
Serious Mass does contain a large amount of calories per serve and is recommended for what is referred to as "hard gainers" meaning those with fast metabolisms that struggle to put on weight of any size. Serious Mass is a perfect addition to a calorie rich diet for hard gainers to put on size, however those with slower metabolisms may see excess body fat alongside the muscle they put in. This all depends on your diet, training and genetics just as much as the product itself. Your overall diet will determine your weight gain - this product is a part of that diet.
- How many calories are there in a serve of Serious Mass?
One serving of Serious Mass will give you 1250 calories, 50g of that being protein. It is one of the higher calorie shakes on the market.
- How many times a day should I take Serious Mass?
Exceeding the 1250 calories in liquid form may be in excess, so if you are looking to take this twice in one day, we would recommend halving the serving size giving you approximately 600 calories per shake twice a day.
- Is Serious Mass ASADA approved?
No Serious Mass is NOT ASADA approved.
- How many times a day should I take Serious Mass?
How much you take is dependant on your body type and diet. Have at least one full serve per day if you find that you struggle to put on weight. Otherwise you can have half a serve per day.
- Does Serious Mass contain the same aminos as Gold Standard Whey?
Optimum Serious Mass shall NOT contain the concentration of Aminos that Optimum 100% Whey Gold Standard shall contain.

I think the full serves are to thick so Instead of 3 serves a day I'll have 5-6 half serves and its perfect👌🏻.
